In this video, I’m showcasing my 20×20×20 cm Caridina shrimp cube — a minimalist aquascape built around simplicity and balance.
This layout uses just two plants — Riccardia chamedryfolia (coral moss) and Marimo moss balls — to create a soft, grassy hill look that feels calm and natural.
Although it looks simple, this is a filterless setup that requires careful balancing and consistency. I wouldn’t recommend this style for beginners, as it demands frequent water changes, regular testing, and close attention to water quality to keep Caridina shrimp healthy.
Tank Details:
Dimensions: 20 × 20 × 20 cm
Plants: Riccardia chamedryfolia, Marimo moss balls
Filtration: None (natural, low-tech balance)
Lighting: Soft, diffused LED light
CO₂: Not used
Hardscape: Minimal stone and moss composition
-------------------------------------------------
Water Parameters for Caridina Shrimp:
Temperature: 20 – 23 °C
pH: 5.5 – 6.5
GH: 4 – 6
KH: 0 – 2
TDS: 90 – 130 ppm
Notes:
This scape relies on stability and gentle maintenance rather than heavy filtration or equipment. I perform small water changes (20-30% once a weel) and monitor parameters closely to maintain balance.
If you enjoy minimalist aquascaping and want inspiration for small shrimp tanks, this setup shows how much atmosphere you can create with just a few plants and thoughtful care.
