I’m often asked how I feed and how often the corals around the store. Around twice a week I make up 2ltrs of my ‘special shake’, but remember I’m feeding thousands of ltrs ( approx 5.5 thousand ) and often coral tables without a heavy fish population …so half my dose of your really heavy stocked with fish or use more sparingly . Of course if need be reduce the quantity by at least 4 times say for just 1000ltrs and gain half it for 500 and so forth .
But the truth is let the test kits for p04 and No3 tell the story as to how you should feed .
If your nitrates and p04 are especially as high (as snoop dogg on a Saturday night ????) - then go with less of the ReefRoids and ReefNutrition as they will push those levels up in a round about way and heavier say on the Benereef, which has probiotic bacteria which will be less problematic with hugher nutrient aquariums and will aid control of your p04.
So why all the different coral food products in one hit and what are they?
Basically I try and cover every possible micron requirement of each polyp I’m dealing with, from sps corals, lps coral, nps coral, soft coral, gorgonians, and animals like feather duster worms, clams etc and to provide some background food for those smaller animals /copepods/amphipods etc etc.
So in this video I used the following for approx 5000 ltrs
2 ltrs of fresh clean seawater
1 heaped teaspoon of PolypLab ReefRoids
1 heaped teaspoon of Benepets /Benereef
4 capfuls of ReefNutrition OysterFeast
4 capfuls of ReefNutrition R.O.E
4 capfuls of ReefNutrition RotiFeast
4 Capfuls of ReefNutrition PhytoFeast
( i edited the film to keep it short -but thats jow i ended up with Pauls Not so secret coral shake) ????.
