These elephants look like they are preparing to beg, but they are actually trying to survive.
Because elephants' feet are not as hard as they look,
and to support their huge bodies, they have a very soft base.
The sponge-like structure underneath this sole distributes the weight and reduces the pressure on the joints.
But these natural shock absorbers make them the only mammal that can't jump, and so when descending slopes,
