pronghorn
pronghorn, (Antilocapra americana), also called American antelope,
North American hoofed mammal, the sole living member of the old ruminant family Antilocapridae (order Artiodactyla).
It is the only animal that has branching horns and sheds them annually.
Although often simply called antelope, pronghorns are not true antelope at all.
Most authorities consider them the sole modern member of the Antilocapridae family, while all other horned ungulates (mammals with hooves) in North America belong to the Bovidae family.
✳️A pronghorn can run up to 60 miles per hour, which makes them the second-fastest land animal in the world (cheetah – 61 mph). ✳️
✳️Although second to the cheetah, the pronghorn can sustain its speed for much longer.✳️
