I checked the media holding capacity of RS 940 hang on back canister filter today, and I chose ceramic rings as bio media because it’s a commonly used option.

According to my weighing scale, each tray of this hang on filter can hold about 165g ceramic rings, which means it can’t hold even 1kg bio media in total. The reading will be different if you choose some other type of bio media.

While this filter isn’t a bad option to go for, you’ll have to add a secondary filter in your tank if the bio load is high.
