Mudskippers, the extraordinary fish that spend most of their time out of water. Unlike any other fish, Mudskippers have adapted to live both in water and on land. They use their pectoral fins to 'walk' on mudflats and can even climb trees! Mudskippers breathe through their skin and the lining of their mouth and throat, which must stay moist to absorb oxygen. That's why they often roll in puddles or mud. These quirky creatures have another unique trait - they build and guard elaborate burrows in the mud, which they use for shelter and breeding.
