体に金色のラインが入った、美しい小型の海水魚。
「キンセン」はその名の通り、光るような黄色い線が特徴です。
サンゴ礁や岩のすき間に群れで暮らし、昼はじっとかくれていることが多いです。
夜になると活動的になり、小さなエビやプランクトンを食べます。
口の中で卵を守る“マウスブルーダー”としても知られています。
オスが卵をくわえて育てる姿はとても感動的。
水族館でも見られることがあり、その可愛さと輝きに癒される人も多いです。
