Kestrel Lays Egg then Proudly Claims It #Shorts

Mrs Kes, the resident kestrel here at Fotherdale, laid an egg on Mother's Day (March, 27th, 2022) She seems so pleased with herself, watch her rest a proprietary yellow claw on it.

KESTREL LAYING BEHAVIOUR
Kestrels lay between three - six eggs at two day intervals so we are expecting Mrs Kes to lay again tomorrow (Tuesday, 29th)

However this species does not begin to incubate their eggs until the clutch is complete.
