The star-nosed mole is a small mammal found in North America. Its most striking feature is its snout, which is covered in 22 fleshy appendages called "rays." These rays are highly sensitive and can detect prey through touch in milliseconds, making the star-nosed mole one of the fastest foraging mammals.
