Meet the frill dragon, also known as the frilled neck lizard, an animal straight out of Jurassic Park. This unique lizard, endemic to northern Australia and Southern New Guinea, earns its name from the remarkable frill around its neck. When at rest, it conceals this feature, but when threatened or angered, it unfurls the frill as an intimidation display, creating a scary, larger appearance to ward off predators. The frill dragon complements this display by opening its mouth and emitting fearsome hissing sounds. Impressively, it can sprint up to 30 miles per hour, lifting its upper body using hind legs. Preferring a arboreal lifestyle, it spends 90% of its time in trees. Growing up to 90 cm long and weighing 500 to 900 grams, its diet mainly comprises termites, butterflies, moths, and occasionally small mammals.
