This is what to do when your fish tank or aquarium is full of algae. Algae thrives in an aquarium with an abundance of nutrients and light will only accelerate that growth. The three things you need to do are 1. Feed Less 2. Reduce Lighting 3. Add Live Plants. Feeding less will help return the nutrient level of the tank to its stable level that won’t promote as much algae growth. Reducing the amount of time you have your lights on in your aquarium will deprive the algae of the vital nutrients created during photosynthesis. Finally, adding live plants (especially fast growing ones) will ensure that your tank is algae free because the live plants will outcompete the algae for nutrients causing them to starve.
