This fish could make you disgusted by beaches!
Because this is a parrotfish, and it gets its name from its incredible colors and its hard, beak-like mouth. It uses this beak to bite into rocks and corals. And since it can only digest the algae on the surface, it leaves the rest behind as silky white sand on top of other fish. But it doesn’t just make sand… it also cleans and keeps coral reefs alive! And each of these fish can produce up to 1 ton of sand a year. In fact, according to research, most tropical beaches actually come from this fish. And some species are born female but turn into males as they grow!
