The African wild dog (two-part nomenclature: Lycaon pictus) is a species of mammal in the Canid family distributed in Africa. This species was described by Temminck in 1820. African wild dogs are known to be masters of the art of coordinated hunting on the savannah with a success rate of up to 3/4 in each hunt, each individual has good sense of discipline and solidarity. They also have one of the strongest bites among carnivorous mammals.
