These walruses throw themselves off cliffs, because they have no choice. Walruses gather in large groups to rest. But when there isn't enough space along the shore, the older, stronger ones push the young and weaker walruses away. With no flat ground left, these outcasts are forced to climb cliffs as high as 80 meters just to rest. But for a 1-ton animal, climbing is hard and getting back down is even harder, especially when they're hungry. yet the real danger is what forces even the strongest walruses to stay in groups: polar bears. A polar bear will attack any walrus that gets separated from the herd no matter how massive it is. So driven by fear and the desperate need to rejoin their group, some walruses make one final choice: They leap off the cliff, hoping to survive.
