We’ve received a few questions wondering how our feathered friends are doing while they’re currently behind the scenes to protect them from avian influenza. Our birds are doing well and continue to receive lots of extra enrichment and love from their keepers! In our Avian Propagation Center, keepers give our birds daily enrichment like puzzle feeders, ice chips and various foraging materials to help keep them mentally and physically stimulated. Across the Zoo, our animal ambassador keepers have found creative ways to allow our ambassador birds to safely stretch their wings indoors. We will continue to closely monitor the avian influenza situation, but in the meantime, watch our grey-crowned cranes, red-billed hornbill, palm cockatoo, kea and red-tailed hawk enjoy their enrichment!
