My aquarium was completely overrun with snails — bladder snails, ramshorn snails, and red-rimmed melania multiplying out of control. Instead of using snail traps, chemicals, or manually removing them, I tried a natural solution: assassin snails.

In this video, I show what happened after adding just three assassin snails to my tank. The snail population collapsed almost overnight, leaving behind empty shells and a seemingly perfect balance. But once the pest snails were gone, an unexpected problem appeared. The assassin snails didn’t stop hunting — they simply changed their target.

This video explores predator-prey dynamics in freshwater aquariums, natural snail control, and the unintended consequences of introducing predators into a closed ecosystem. It’s a real-world example of how balance can shift quickly in planted tanks, shrimp tanks, and community aquariums.

If you’re dealing with a snail explosion or considering assassin snails for snail control, this video shows both the benefits and the risks. Watch until the end to see what the assassin snails went after next — and what I learned from the experience.
