African Bush Elephant: Largest known mammal on Earth

With some individuals rising to weigh more than 6 tonnes, the African Bush Elephant is the biggest living thing on earth right now. It is believed that the Greek word for ivory inspired the name of the elephant, indicating that the animal was given its name for its unusually long tusks.

The African Bush Elephant is the largest known land mammal on Earth, with males growing to heights of up to 3.5 metres and females growing to heights of about 3 metres. The African Bush Elephant's body can lengthen to a maximum of 6 to 7 metres.

The Asian Elephant, the African Bush Elephant, and the African Forest Elephant are the three separate species of elephant that still exist today, despite the fact that many of the forebears of the African Bush Elephant went extinct during the previous ice age.

The African Bush Elephant is said to be generally larger than the African Forest Elephant, which has rounder ears and straighter tusks, despite the two elephant species' close resemblance.
