CRAZY Wood Frog Breeding Ball!

The wood frog, Lithobates sylvatica (formerly Rana sylvatica), is one of the most interesting frogs in North America. It spends most of its life in the uplands only returning to vernal pools in the late winter or early spring to breed. It is also the only frog to live above the arctic circle, and since it tends to live in cold places it also has some super cool adaptations for dealing with the conditions there. One of the most surprising being that wood frogs can survive being frozen! Wood frogs are attractively colored in browns, greens, grays, and even reds, and although the coloration between individuals is highly variable, they have a very distinctive dark mask that makes them easy to identify.
