Ficus pumila (creeping fig or climbing fig) is a well-known and popular houseplant that can be purchased at almost any garden center.
I like to use the plant as a natural "nutrient vacuum cleaner" in aquariums, especially for open aquariums. It particularly likes nitrate and phosphate.
I place the plant so that only the roots are permanently in the water and the plants can grow upwards. Whether on a large root or simply along a wall. That's all you need to do. Just be patient.
