The Egyptian tortoise is one of the smallest tortoise species in the world. Popular as pets but critically endangered in the wild, they are coveted by many. How do we properly keep them, though? Outdated information on the internet has caused the improper growth and even untimely deaths of many Egyptian tortoises in herpetoculture and it's time we close the door to the past. In this video we team up for a second time with one of the BEST reptile enclosure companies out there, TOAD RANCH, to bring you a state of the art, functioning habitat for these diminutive, special tortoises. Aiming for an arid but moisture retaining enclosure (within the substrate) with levels around 75-82F (ambient temp), a basking site of 95-99F and low humidity, we show you how to build and design a wonderful home for Egyptian tortoises.
This Toad Ranch habitat measures 5 feet by 2 feet by 2 feet and is available on their website along with other incredible reptile and amphibian enclosures. Visit them: www.toadranchenclosures.com
