SPS Total Tank Maintenance HOB Water Change Frequency Saltwater Coral Reef Aquarium

In this video I am going to walk you through my total tank maintenance on my SPS dominated reef tank. The maintenance regime isn’t too much different than what I do on my none SPS tanks, but the setup and equipment are different with this tank.

I break my maintenance frequency into:
- Weekly
- Monthly (every 4 weeks)
- 2 Months
Note - I do the monthly every 4 weeks which means I do it 13 times a year.

Weekly
- 10% Water Change
- Clean Skimmer Cup
- Clean HOB 1 & 2 Intake Pump Filter
- Clean HOB 1 & 2 Out Filter
- Toothbrush Clean HOB 1 & 2 Out. Chamber
- Rotate Chaetomorpha in HOB 1
- Flush Water in HOB 1

Monthly (every 4 weeks)
- Everything I do Weekly
- Siphon Sand Bed
- Turkey Baster Rock Scape
- Clean HOB 2 Monthly - this one is set up like a canister filter
- 20 / 35 / 50 PPI
- Ceramic media
- Chemi-Pure Elite
- Purigen x 2
- ROWA-Phos
- Carbon

Media Maintenance Frequency
Filter Pads - 6 Month Life
- each size spaced 2 months apart
Ceramic Media - 6 Month Life
- 1/2 changed every 3 months
Chemi-Pure Elite - 3 Month Life
Purigen - 2 Month Life
- change more frequent if product turn dark brown
ROWA-Phos - every 2 Months
Carbon - Every 4 Weeks

2 Months
- Everything I do Weekly and Monthly
- Clean Powerhead Housing
- Clean Powerhead Magnetic Pump Propellor
- Clean HOB Intake Pump Guard
- Clean HOB Magnetic Pump Propellor
