Just a couple of kilometres north of Brisbane's North Stradbroke Island, Flat Rock is well-known by locals as the most exciting dive site in the area. The natural rocky island is surrounded by vibrant coral gardens that are home to turtles, wobbegongs, leopard sharks, eagle rays, reef fish, pelagic fish and even the odd manta ray. Turtle Caves is the dive site at Flat Rock with the highest variety of marine life and soft coral gardens that can only be compared to those in Fiji. Be sure to visit during winter, when you can meet impressive grey nurse sharks and visibility is usually better than in summer!
