Video overview of the reef community at Indigo Bay, Eumilli (Fantome Island), part of the Palm Island group in the Central Great Barrier Reef and traditional sea country of the Manbarra people.
The Palm Islands lie at the junction of the turbid inshore waters and the clearer offshore waters of the Great Barrier Reef lagoon, and they have some of the highest coral diversity on the GBR. The environmental conditions on the windward and leeward sides of the islands are quite different, and this provides a multitude of different niches which allow numerous species of coral to coexist in this relatively small island group.
Footage taken June 22nd 2023 at Indigo Bay (18° 39.60'S 146° 30.80'E) on expedition with @explorer_just_b
