THE FASTEST LAND MAMMAL (CHEETAH)

Cheetah is the fastest land mammal, it can reach speeds, according to various sources, from 80 to 112 km/h.

The historical range of the cheetah covered almost all of Africa (bypassing dense forests) and southern Asia from the Mediterranean Sea to the south of Kazakhstan and to most of India. Now in Asia, the cheetah is preserved only in the desert of central Iran, and in Africa its range is highly fragmented and the number of the species is insignificant. Its habitat is dry forests, shrubs, grassy areas, deserts.

The cheetah is active during the day, mostly in the morning and evening. Hunts mainly on ungulates of medium and large sizes. From a social point of view, the cheetah population is divided into the following categories: mother with children, single female, nomadic single male, territorial coalition of males. There is no specific breeding season. After almost three months of pregnancy, as a rule, from three to five cubs are born.
