How to make DIY CO2 for planted aquarium? This video provides a step-by-step guide on how to build your own DIY CO2 system for planted aquarium. This is an easy method for making aquarium CO2 for beginners. This is a great way to generate CO2 for your aquarium without spending a lot of money. You can use sugar and yeast to make CO2 for planted aquarium, which is much more efficient and cost-effective than using citric acid or baking soda. The best way to diffuse CO2 under this method is to use a DIY CO2 diffuser, such as a DIY internal filter CO2 diffuser. In the video, you'll learn how to build your own DIY CO2 generator kit, followed by the sugar and yeast recipe for CO2 production.
Please Note :
???? In this method, CO2 will be produced continuously (24/7) in the bottle and it cannot be stopped. Therefore, do not try to stop the flow of CO2. You can run an air-pump / air-stone at night to keep the oxygen level in the aquarium water high or, simply turn off the internal filter CO2 diffuser.
???? This DIY CO2 system is sufficient for a 10 gallon planted tank with high-light or a 20-30 gallon planted tank with medium light. If you need more CO2 for your plants, you can simply increase the number of CO2 generators, say 3-4 CO2 generators to produce enough CO2. Also, to maintain the CO2 supply to the aquarium at a constant rate, one of the bottle solutions should be changed for a fresh mixture every 7 days or so, and in another 7 days, the other bottle should be refreshed, and so on.
???? The best time to prepare the solution is at night, so that the plants get enough CO2 when the aquarium lights are on in the morning.

Having trouble producing CO2? Keep the following points in mind :
???? First check if your CO2 generator system has any leaks. If there is a leak, the pressure will not build up, and the CO2 gas will not flow properly into the aquarium or not at all.
???? Use warm / lukewarm water when making the sugar and yeast solution. Do not use hot water, because yeast cannot tolerate hot water and will die.
???? The check valves must be properly installed in this CO2 system. If the check valves are fitted in reverse, CO2 gas will come out less or will not come out at all.
???? In this method, you have to change the sugar and yeast solution in one bottle every 7 days or so or when you see that the CO2 production rate has decreased.
???? Here, the production of CO2 gas will depend on the quality and quantity of the yeast. If more yeast is used, more CO2 gas will be produced. Always use fresh / good quality / branded yeast here. Unpacked or unbranded yeast can be in expired condition; if you use it, CO2 production will not be good.
