Nighttime at the Panama Fruit Feeders welcomes an entirely different set of mostly mammal visitors. On this night a female Common Opossum arrived at the feeding platform with a young opossum as passenger! Females care for their young for up to 3-4 months, and this youngster had likely been born at least 2-3 months earlier. Watch closely and you can see the young opossum's prehensile tail reassuringly wrapping around the adult as she shifts her weight while on the platform. After mama opossum got her fill of the offerings, she and her young headed off into the night.
