Rescued armadillos are having their lunch at rescue center La Senda Verde in Bolivia.
Armadillo means "little armored one". The carapace develops through calcification in the top part of dermal layer of the skin and is composed of small, strong, bony plates (called osteoderms or scutes) that are overlaid by keratinous epidermis (called scales).
Souther Naked-tail Armadillo is insectivorous with arthtopods (mostly ants and termites) comprising more than 90 proc. of their diets.
