Measuring up to 19 cm in length, Yellow-spotted salamanders are our largest salamander species. They are found in deciduous forests across the Atlantic region and Northwestern Ontario. These very secretive mole salamanders hide under leaf little, rocks, and logs during the day and come out to hunt at night.
On wet nights in the Spring, they journey to their breeding ponds, like this salamander.
