Frolicking in the summer SUN with my little lady female RUSSIAN TORTOISE, named:

“LOOKY” -because she likes to look around a lot- get it?!????????

I’ve had her for over 11 years, but she was an adult size when I got her.

I bought her from the big-box pet store “PetSmart.”
The workers there told me they didn’t know anything about her history, when I asked about her backstory.
They said they get random shipments that “provide all their reptiles & amphibians for sale from their reptile breeders & vendors.”

I DO know at least 2 local mom-and-pop pet stores that will sometimes buy their reptiles & amphibians from people who locally breed them. Like If they have a big group of Bearded Dragon babies, or baby Corn Snakes like I used to have- (Except I kept ALL of mine for YEARS!! I couldn’t part with them, seriously!)
Sometimes, they told me, they “might buy one off Craig’s List for them to resale, or take back in pets people can no longer take care of & resale.”

My adorable little TORT here has been healthy as a hog since the day I got her!!❤️❤️
