Curiously, a rare encounter with a deep-sea anglerfish (Melanocetus johnsonii) was recorded off the coast of Tenerife - biologists observed it on the surface of the water in daylight. These fish of the Ceratiidae family live at depths from a thousand to three thousand meters. Observation of such unusual behavior (appearance on the surface) may indicate a potential change in the habitat.
