I built a nano tide pool ecosystem filled with some of the most interesting and overlooked creatures you can find in a reef tank. In this video, I’ll show you exactly how I created this one gallon miniature ocean, from building the custom filter and aquascaping with Marco Rocks to adding live sand, sponges, and anemones.

This little ecosystem includes Aiptasia anemones, Majano anemones, bristle worms, feather dusters, red and yellow sponges, micro brittle stars, and macroalgae, all working together to keep the tank clean and balanced. It’s incredible how each species has its own job, from filter feeding to scavenging, creating a thriving natural tide pool environment.

You’ll see the entire process from setup to the first week of growth and how the tank has settled into a self sustaining micro reef.
If you enjoy nano reefs, tide pools, or natural saltwater ecosystems, this build is one you’ll want to see.
