leopard???? steals Cheetah kill The leopard is one of the five extant species in the genus Panthera, a member of the cat family, Felidae. Colors:
The base color of the leopard's coat is cream-yellow on the belly and it darkens slightly to an orange-brown on the back. A dappling of solid black spots is present on the leopard's limbs and head. These spots form circular rosette patterns that are golden or umber in color at the center.

DIET:
While the carnivore's preferred food sources are ungulates like antelope, gazelles, and impalas, they feed on many animals that might surprise us. Baboons, hares, rodents, birds, lizards, porcupines, warthogs, fish, and dung beetles are all part of the leopard's extensive menu.

A leopard has 32 teeth, which are of 3 types – canine teeth, carnassial teeth (molars), and incisors. Canines are the four long and pointed teeth on either side of a leopard's mouth. These are about 2 inches (5 centimeters) long. Canine teeth are used mainly for biting and piercing.


HABITAT:
Leopards are most abundant in woodland, grassland savanna and all forest types, but also occur widely in montane habitats, coastal scrub, shrubland, semi-desert and desert.

CHARACTERISTICS :
Cheetahs have distinctive spots and black, tear-shaped stripes that stretch from the inner corner of each eye to the mouth. Cheetahs have small rounded heads, long necks, deep chests and claws that are non-retractable. The legs of the cheetah are long, slim and muscular.


BEHAVIOR:
Cheetahs are very timid and avoid lions and hyenas at all costs. Their fresh kill is often taken by an intruding hyena or lion because the cheetah is too timid and tired to put up a fight. Many times cheetahs are even threatened by their prey.

NOISE:
Cheetahs produce a variety of sounds including growls, purrs that generally denote contentment, chirps (between a mother and her cubs), and an "explosive yelp" heard by humans from 2 km (1.24 mi.) away. Moans, growls, hisses, and spitting vocalizations are generally produced in agonistic or combative situations.

APPEARANCE:
Cheetahs have an upper coat of fur that is tawny, pale buff or grayish white, with underparts that are paler and whiter. Black spots are set close together on the pelage with a series of black rings around the last one-third of the tail.
