This might be the strangest animal in the world! Because every part of the platypus looks like it was stolen from another animal! It has the tail of a beaver, the bill of a duck, and the fur and feet of an otter. Even though it's a mammal, it lays eggs instead of giving birth. It feeds its babies with milk but since it doesn't have nipples, the milk oozes out from its armpits. It's also the most venomous mammal in the world, but this venom, which can only cause pain, is located on the spurs of its hind legs. So, to get stung, you’d have to be behind it. Although it's semi-aquatic, it has to keep moving underwater and close its eyes and nose because its waterproof fur keeps it from sinking.
So even though it's blind underwater, it can sense the location of other animals, like sharks, using the electroreceptors on its soft bill.
