Makatsa takes a break and we get some nice zooming on V1!! The chick is getting bigger and we are able to see it more over the nest rails now. Mom will return and begins to serve up dinner with what looks like rock hyrax (Procavia capensis) -one of the most common staples of the South African Black Eagle. Rock hyraxes or rock rabbits, are small, stub-tailed, rabbit-like animals native to Africa. Though rock hyraxes resemble rodents, their closest living relatives are actually elephants and manatees. These social mammals primarily eat vegetation. They can weigh anywhere between 4-12 pounds! Thank you for watching!
