This is why they call them pacman frog… anything you think might be too big for them to eat, trust me, they can eat it anyway! Feeding a nightcrawler earthworm to one of my captive-bred juvenile Surinam horned frogs (Ceratophrys cornuta) ????????????. My frogs are growing quickly and have started accepting different prey items, which is great as they only wanted crickets before. This is one of my favourite species within the Ceratophrys genus. Horned frogs are masters of ambush hunting. These animals will dig down into the substrate, sometimes with their eyes popping out, waiting patiently for unsuspecting prey to scurry on by, at which point they lunge forward and attack. Horned frogs are known for catching and eating everything from other amphibians, invertebrates, small reptiles, and even birds and mammals! In fact, their jaws possess bony teeth-like points that essentially “pop” frogs. When frogs feel threatened, they inflate. These “teeth” deflate them. Ceratophrys cornuta, is recognized as being particularly fond of eating frogs.
