The panda's ancestors were carnivores, but unable to compete with other beasts, they relied on bamboo year-round. Through long evolutionary processes, they developed strong teeth to chew the tough bamboo and a thumb-like structure to flexibly grasp the bamboo. While their digestive abilities remain limited, they rely on large quantities of food to obtain sufficient nutrients, successfully adapting to this unique lifestyle.
