I’ve lived in New Zealand my whole life… and I’ve never seen this creature until now.

Hidden deep inside rotting logs and damp forest soil, this is part of the Procyliosoma family— the New Zealand pill millipede. At first glance, it looks like a woodlouse or an isopod, but it’s not. It’s part of an ancient lineage that has survived since before the dinosaurs vanished.
