Add Indian Almond Leaves to My Longkang aquarium ????☘️????????

Indian almond leaves, also known as catappa or ketapang leaves, provide numerous benefits for shrimp. They release tannins and organic compounds with antibacterial and antifungal properties, helping to prevent diseases. These leaves create a natural, stress-free environment that mimics shrimp’s natural habitat. As they decompose, they provide a food source and promote the growth of beneficial biofilm, enhancing shrimp health and breeding conditions. Additionally, the leaves offer hiding places for shrimp, further reducing stress.

To prepare the Indian almond leaves, I steep them in hot water and allow them to cool completely, which takes about 2 to 3 hours, before adding them to my aquarium.

The hot water softens the leaves, making them more pliable and helping them sink faster when placed in the aquarium.

Hot water also helps kill any potential pests, parasites, or harmful bacteria present on the leaves.
