This is a low-tech, no-filter Walstad-style aquarium that relies on dense plant growth to naturally purify the water and supply oxygen. Keeping a high ratio of plants to livestock is essential, abundant plants absorb waste and maintain water quality, while a lighter bioload helps prevent excess nutrient buildup.

Siesta light schedule - 5 hours on, 4 hours off and another 4 hours on. Total 9 hours light on. The 4 hours break in between is to allow co2 to replenish so that the plants can photosynthesis when the light turns back on later.
