Hi friends...
Most beautiful monkey in the world
The majority of mammals of the suborder Simiiformes, also referred to as the simians, may be referred to as "monkeys" in popular usage. However, in a broader sense based on cladistics, apes (Hominoidea) are also included, making the terms monkeys and simians synonyms in regards to their scope. Traditionally, all animals in the group now known as simians are counted as monkeys except the apes, which constitutes an incomplete paraphyletic grouping.
Geoffroy combined the apes with the Cercopithecidae family of monkeys in 1812 and gave them the scientific name Catarrhini, which is French for "Old World monkeys" (singes de l'Ancien Monde). The Platyrrhini is the living counterpart of the Catarrhini in the monkey ("singes") group (New World monkeys). The Platyrrhini emerged within "monkeys" approximately nine million years before the Cercopithecidae and the apes split apart. They migrated from Afro-Arabia (the Old World) to South America, [citation needed] probably by ocean. A better source is required. Since apes are deeply rooted in the evolutionary tree of living and extinct monkeys, they are clearly more closely linked to the Cercopithecidae than to the Platyrrhini.
There are some monkey species that live predominantly on the ground, such baboons, but the majority of monkey species are arboreal, meaning they live in trees. The majority of animals are most active during the day (diurnal). Most people believe that monkeys are clever, especially Old World monkeys.
The simians and tarsiers are two members of the suborder Haplorhini; the two species split about 60 million years ago. About 35 million years ago, new world monkeys and catarrhine monkeys diverged from the simians. About 25 million years ago, Old World monkeys and apes diverged from the catarrhine monkeys. Primatologists also classify extinct basic simians like Aegyptopithecus or Parapithecus (35–32 million years ago) as monkeys.
Since apes are the sister species of old world monkeys in the monkey family, they often have the same traits as monkeys. Williams et al. described evolutionary traits in contrast to other primates like tarsiers and lemuriformes, including stem groups.
The pygmy marmoset, which may be as little as 117 mm (4+58 in) with a 172 mm (6+34 in) tail and weighs just over 100 g (3+12 oz), to the adult mandrill, which is about 1 m (3 ft 3 in) long and up to 36 kg in weight, are the two smallest species of monkey (79 lb).Others reside on the savanna, while some are arboreal (live in trees).
Some traits are common to both groups; for example, the majority of New World monkeys have prehensile tails, whereas Old World monkeys either have non-prehensile tails or no tail at all. While New World monkeys can be trichromatic, dichromatic, or monochromatic—as in the case of owl monkeys and greater galagos—Old World monkeys have trichromatic color vision similar to that of humans. The faces of Old World and New World monkeys seem quite different, despite the fact that both groups share some characteristics, such as the types of noses, cheeks, and rumps, like the apes do, including having forward-facing eyes.
