00:05 Kittens are attracted to aquariums for many reasons.
It's entertaining to play games with fast-moving fish, and aquariums provide food.
My kittens are more interested in eating duckweed than live fish, as shown in my previous video.
Here you can see about 5-month-old kitten Lisa munching on fresh duckweed.
Lisa is not a vegetarian by any means.
She just likes to have duckweed occasionally in addition to wet cat food, which my kittens get 4 times a day.
00:40 I use a fork for harvesting about a teaspoon of duckweed for 3 kittens just before serving them cat food.
This amount usually is enough for 3 kittens’ meal.
Duckweed is a harmless, high-protein plant commonly growing in aquariums.
Each of my kittens gets about one-third of the whole cat food can per one feeding.
01:07 I sprinkle some duckweed on top of the cat food.
And sometimes I make it look fancy - why not? :)
The food is served.
01:30 Here is Lisa - she is the smallest compared to her brothers.
Usually, she eats less than her big brothers.
01:56 Notice, I put the duckweed on top without mixing it with cat food.
Mixing duckweed with the cat food would force kittens to eat it all.
Teddy is always the first to check his siblings’ plates even before he finishes his meal.
02:33 Two big brothers gently nudged Lisa away from her meal.
That's what happens in big families - you eat fast or get no food to eat.
Well, Lisa knows the rules of a big family and managed to eat most of her meal.
Now the boys can clean up empty plates. :)
03:08 I give duckweed to my kittens about once a week.
And usually I do it on the days when kittens spend noticeably more time by the aquariums.
It is a kind of cue they give me about what they want.
My kittens also eat fresh cat grass - admittedly, duckweed is easier to grow.
And here Eli is savoring the last crumb of duckweed.
Please let me know in comments what type of plants or seaweed your kittens enjoy.
Have fun and happy kittens :)
