Polar bears are visually striking animals that are native to the cold and harsh Arctic aquamarine ecosystem. They are massive predators with a diet primarily consisting of meat. Not only are polar bears the biggest bear species, but they are also the largest living land carnivore. How tall is a polar bear standing on its hind legs? Are polar bears terrified of any creatures on land? All your questions will be answered as we have compiled clips of merciless moments of polar bears crushing and consuming their prey.

Walruses are easily identifiable because of their two large, downward pointing tusks. Male walruses can grow up to a tonne, making them one of the largest pinnipeds. Pinnipeds are a group of carnivorous aquatic mammals. Other animals that are found in this group are seals and sea lions. A fun fact about walruses is that both males and females have tusks. Their tusks are useful tools used for defense against predators, fighting other walruses, and hauling themselves out of water.

In this clip, a polar bear interrupts a herd of walruses while they are chilling on land near the sea. The bear climbs on top of the herd, searching for an appropriate target. It locks on it and prevents its victim from waddling to the safety of the sea. The bear drags the walrus further onto land and begins to maim and scratch the poor creature. A hearty feast awaits the determined predator. The animal before it is roughly close to its size, and it is difficult to conceive the idea of the bear finishing the entire animal. After a while of struggling to figure out where to begin, other polar bears run up to the scene. They are not ones to pass up the opportunity of an easy meal. The one that did all the hard work is not interested in sharing, but it is outnumbered. A scuffle of dominance occurs with the first bear attempting to drive off the opportunistic intruders. In the end, the first bear reluctantly gives up. It allows the other bears to join in on the feast.

Polar bears are vicious animals with no mercy for their prey. In this clip, an adult polar bear catches a harp seal. The bear drags the seal onto a floating iceberg. It proceeds to ingest the poor animal alive. The seal is helpless, and all its attempts to end the torture fails. The ruthless carnivore continues to rip its flesh to pieces. The predator places its right paw on its victim to make it easier to get large chunks of meat with each bite. While this is going on, the seal is still alive. It moves again in a desperate attempt to free itself from the predator. The bear is cold and heartless as it keeps the harp seal pinned down. One can only hope that the seal’s adrenaline reduces the pain it feels. It is shocking to realize that seals can withstand such a high pain level without passing out.

The temperature in the arctic can go as low as negative 30 degrees Fahrenheit. Only a few select animals are able to withstand such extreme conditions. Polar bears and marine mammals have a thick layer of fat that keeps their body warm. Arctic foxes have thick, dense fur covering their entire body and paws. This makes it possible for them to travel on snow and ice without losing all their body heat. Avians are known to actively migrate down south whenever it is wintertime. However, a few species, like the raven, remain in the Arctic all year round. Ravens have high metabolisms that generate warmth for their bodies. The heat generated is high enough to keep the birds warm in freezing conditions.

In this video, a polar bear can be seen eating a piece of carcass. A brave raven keeps a respectful distance from the bear. The bird waits for an opportunity to join in on the meal. However, the large predator is not willing to share. Next, we see an arctic fox roam around the bigger predator. The fox has the same intent as the raven. It wants to get breakfast as well. The two nettlesome creatures only cause the slightest inconvenience to the polar bear. The bear protects its meal by taking swipes at the fox.
