Trimming, maintenance & quick water change for my Avocado Bonsai Walstad Aquarium ❤️????????????????
~
The pearl weed has grown a lot and is covering the top of the tank, preventing light from entering and reducing space for the wild guppies and shrimp. It’s time to trim the plants!

About this aquarium:
~
This low-tech, no-filter Walstad aquarium relies on plants to oxygenate the water through photosynthesis and absorb harmful waste like ammonia and nitrates. Maintaining a high plant-to-livestock ratio is essential. A greater number of plants help manage waste and sustain water quality, while fewer livestock minimize excess nutrients, promoting a balanced ecosystem.
