Trimming and quick maintenance for my Avocado Bonsai Walstad Aquarium

It’s time to trim the Pearlweed in this low-tech, filter-free Walstad aquarium.
~
After the trimming, I cleaned the aquarium glass with melamine foam and performed a 15-20% water change. To support the Avocado Bonsai and floating plants, I’ve been dosing 0.3 ml of Tropica Specialised Nutrition twice a week.

About this aquarium:

This is my Avocado Bonsai Aquarium, built following the Walstad method.

Substrates:
Potting mix capped with aquarium sand
~
Tank size:
20cm by 20cm by 25cm 10 liters or 2.64 gallons
~
Plants in this aquarium:
1) Avocado plant
2) Cryptocoryne Parva
3) Cryptocoryne Wendtii Brown
4) Pearlweed
5) Red Root Floaters
6) Dwarf Water Lettuce

Inhabitants:
- Wild type guppies
- Red rilli shrimps
- Ramshorn snails
~
Light:
IKEA TERTIAL Work Lamp with Philips 8W LED Coolday light bulb
~
Photo period: 10 hours with 4 hours siesta period. Light on for 5 hours, off for 4 hours and then turn on again for 5 hours.

Fertiliser:
I add 0.3ml of Tropica Specialised Nutrition liquid fertiliser twice per week.
