Collecting Pond Soil & Plants for a DIY Jar Ecosystem | Mini Aquarium Build
At this spot, I found the perfect place to collect pond soil, water, and aquatic plants for my new DIY resurrection bowl ecosystem. By carefully choosing natural substrate and vegetation, I’m setting the foundation for a balanced miniature world in a jar.
This step is crucial for any jar aquarium, pond ecosystem, or nano aquascape, because the soil carries microorganisms, algae, and nutrients that will sustain the tiny creatures inside – from snails and insect larvae to plants and biofilm grazers.
In the last sequence, you can actually see some mayfly nymph larvae grazing.
If you’re into self-sustaining aquariums, nano tanks, jarariums, or biotope ecosystems, this is where the magic begins – collecting the raw materials straight from nature.
