How to Replace the Cosmetic Sand Substrate in Your Aquarium

In today's video, I'll show you how to replace your old cosmetic sand substrate with something new. Whether the sand in your aquarium has become algae ridden, or you've simply decided that you no longer like the look of it, it's as easy as siphoning out the old sand and sprinkling in the new substrate.

I highly recommend scheduling this type of maintenance on a water change day, as the new sand will most likely cloud your water. This process also works for adding gravel or a combination of sand/gravel. Today, I'll show you how to add sand with gravel accents, and then blend the textures. I'll be adding ADA La Plata Sand and Aqua Gravel in this layout.
