A Simple Walstad Aquarium ❤️????????????
~
This aquarium is based on the Walstad method, a natural style of fishkeeping that uses soil substrate and lots of live plants to build a self-sustaining ecosystem. The plants take care of filtration and oxygenation. It’s a low-maintenance and eco-friendly setup. If you’re interested, I definitely recommend checking out Diana Walstad’s approach. It’s a fantastic way to keep a healthy, thriving tank!
~
Tank dimension:
20cm x 20cm x 25cm (10 liters or 2.64 gallons)
~
Inhabitants:
1) Wild type guppies
2) Wild type neocaridina shrimp (reverted from chocolate neocaridina shrimp)
3) Ramshorn Snails
~

1) Cryptocoryne Parva
2) Cryptocoryne Wendtii Brown
3) Vallisnera
4) Pearlweed
5) Dwarf water lettuce
~

Potting soil capped with sand and lava rocks.
~

IKEA TERTIAL Work Lamp with Philips 8W LED Coolday light
~
Photo period: 10 hours with 4 hours siesta period. Light on for 5 hours, off for 4 hours and then turn again for 5 hours.
~
According to Diana Walstad, plants consume the available CO2 by around midday. Taking a siesta allows the CO2 levels to replenish, providing enough for the plants to use again in the afternoon.
