There are a few easy ways to help Bamboo and Vampire Shrimp catch more food. One, offer frozen or live baby brine shrimp from time to time, or similar-sized foods that stay suspended in the water column. Two, adding Amano Shrimp or Short Nose Shrimp to your tank can help too because when the females give birth, their larvae (which won’t survive in freshwater) provide an extra source of nutrition for your filter feeders. And three, during your routine maintenance, gently stir up the substrate and run your hands through the plants to release fine edible particles back into the water column—giving your shrimp more to catch with their fans.
