Raw footage of the coral community at Magnetic Island between February 26th and March 4th 2022.
Gowrie Cove 26-2-22 19° 6.915'S 146° 52.864'E
Geoffrey Bay 1-3-22 19° 9.262'S 146° 52.107'E
Fish Cove 4-3-22 19° 8.831'S 146° 52.309'E
Most corals were looking healthy, and there was little evidence of the low-level bleaching stress that was evident mid January.
However the recent weather has been hot and sunny and sea temperatures are creeping back toward the bleaching threshold. These conditions are forecast for another 6 days so there will almost certainly be more bleaching during March.
Stay tuned for updates.
